Just a quick update on the progress of the Bank Building.....in February of last year (2023), we were awarded a $90,000 Heritage Trust Fund Grant from the Kansas State Historical Society. In June of last year, Elk County Community Foundation had a matching fund fundraiser and Elk County Preservation Society was the recipient of approximately $40,000 from that, we combined the money from those 2 grants and went out for bids to secure the South wall and repoint stonework. Bids were let in February 2024 and work on that project will start soon. This is a huge project and we can only tackle what we have funds for.We have a website at www.elkcopreservation.org. We are continuously applying for Grants and hope to start showing some progress soon.If you would like to be a part of this process, reach out to any of our Board Members and we would love to have you on our team. ...
